Rotorua - NORTH ISLAND

Evidence of New Zealand's volcanic activity is probably most evident in the North Island's city of Rotorua. Sometimes regarded by some as New Zealand's smelliest city.
Not many cities in the world can boast their own city park complete with boiling mud and hot pools.

Not only does Rotorua display fine examples of the might stored within the earth's crust, but Maori culture plays a major part in Rotorua's day to day life.

Rotorua is located in the middle of the North Island's volcanic plateau and along with mud pools and hot springs there are fantastic silica rimmed pools.
